Something Doesn't Add Up

"Growing number of Ontario college students need help in grade school math"?

But....but....I thought we had the best schools in the universe here in Ontario?

  1. I had worked a few years ago for a small technology company that had a recent grad electronics technologist from Algonquin College -- I was appalled to discover that this individual could not do a simple linear algebraic equation such as linear interpolation. I gave him the equation and he still could not re-order the equation to fit the available parameters.

This shows that the grad from the college lacked basic mathematics. The college should have picked up on this and corrected it. If not they are just as much to blame to let him graduate.

Maybe high schools should move away social engineering and go back to the basics.
